Hello, brilliant entrepreneur! It’s Tash Corbin here, and welcome to episode 138 of the Heart-Centred Business Podcast.
It’s Day 6 of #tashmas!!! We’re just about half-way, and I’m really excited about today’s episode.
Because I’m going to share with you the secret to being more magnetic in your business – attracting more of your exact ideal clients.
It might not necessarily be what you think it is.
So I’m going to share with you the secret to being more magnetic, and it’s that one thing that’s probably stopping and blocking you.
And we’ve got a great freebie for today.
Remember that you can grab the show notes from today at tashcorbin.com/138.
Let’s get started…
So when I asked the question, “If I could wave a magic wand, what’s the one thing that you want me to make happen for you and your business?”
Most people say, “I just want more people.”
“I just want more followers.”
“I just want more sales.”
“I just want more clients.”
“I just want more of what’s going on right now, and I want that to happen easily.”
Well, the good news is that it is actually easy to start attracting more people to your Facebook Page, your social media channels, to your business and to your work.
It’s actually a lot easier than you’re probably making it for yourself.
And one of the key things that I see people do is they don’t actually get clear on who they’re here to serve for now.
Let me explain this a little…
In the Magnetic Business eBook, which is our freebie for today, I talk about the different principles of becoming more magnetic in your business.
One of the things that magnets do is that they attract and repel.
So you need to actually have the two poles in order for the attracting part of the magnet to be nice and strong.
You can’t have a magnet unless it decides that it’s okay to do both.
And it’s the same for you in your business.
For now (it may not be forever), you need to make a decision about who you are here for and who you are not here for right now.
That feels really hard for a lot of us and it feels really uncomfortable because we can help everyone.
But if you try to speak to everyone, you end up speaking to no-one.
So the secret to being more magnetic in your business is to try and attract less people.
Instead of trying to attract all of the billions of people in the world, just focus down on the next 100 people who are exactly the same – they are exactly at the same point of their journey, have exactly the same troubles showing up for them right now, are using exactly the same words to describe what it is that they need.
How much easier would it be for you to attract those 100 people?
You would be clearer in your messaging.
You would know exactly who you are looking for.
You would speak exactly to those people.
And chances are, you know 5 or 10 of those 100 people right now.
You could go and actually talk to them.
Heaven forbids, you would actually go and talk to your ideal client and talk to them about the work that you do and the way that you could help them.
So instead of trying to think of, “How can I get as many of the billions of people in the world to come and find my business, love me, and recognize what I do and understand how important it is to them?”
Instead of trying to do that (which is really hard), why don’t you become more magnetic by focusing your energy and attention?
And as I said, it’s just for now – not forever.
Focus that energy and attention.
It doesn’t necessarily have to be based on demographics.
There are certain questions that I make people in my Take Off program decide. Things like,
“Is this for a woman or a man?” Because the way you sell to a woman is different to the way that you sell to men.
The messaging is different. The way they describe their problem is different.
The way you solve the problem is different.
“Does that person work for themselves, or work for someone else?”
They’re the two non-negotiable decisions that I make my clients make.
If that is like, “Ugh, but I can men AND women.”
“Oh, but I want to serve both men AND women.”
“Oh, but I want to serve people who work for someone else AND people who work for themselves.”
I want to challenge you to make a decision – just for now, not forever.
Because in both of those categories, it makes a huge difference to the way that you focus your marketing.
And if you don’t make a decision, you don’t focus your marketing.
You try to speak to everyone; you end up speaking to no one.
So to become more magnetic in your business and attract more of those ideal clients, let’s challenge you to get very specific about your niche.
Another way to think about how to get more specific if it’s not based on demographics…
So you might decide it’s women who work for themselves but the age thing doesn’t really make a lot of sense for you to think about or whether they have kids or not.
But for all of your ideal clients, there is a journey that they’re going on.
If you work in the health and well-being space, maybe the journey is from being unaware that they have a health issue to starting to see the symptoms of the health issue to getting curious about the health issue to trying something that doesn’t work to falling off the bandwagon to getting back on the bandwagon again to finding a thing that actually does work to then losing the habit of that thing that work and then reinstating the habit and then being like preaching to the choir.
She’s got it sorted. She’s got it nailed. She’s off and racing.
So I want you to think about, along that journey, where do you pick people up and where do you drop them off?
Because you don’t have to hold on that person for the rest of that journey.
Your role is actually just to be a part of that journey for that person.
And when you work with people who are really in the early stages of that journey, you have to spend a lot of time, energy and money educating people and moving them along the journey for free until they’re ready to invest in a thing.
Or, you have to be really low-priced so things like books and other low-priced products work really well in there.
Now, if you think of your income goal and divide it by $19 for a low-priced product, how many things do you need to sell to actually get your income goal every single month?
Usually, for people in start-up or in the first under 6 figures in their business, they actually don’t have the capacity to reach the amount of people that they need to reach to make the sales that they need to make to achieve their income goals.
So it’s not an option for them.
They need to work with people further along in their journey from the start, and then they can come back and find the early peeps once they’ve created momentum in their business.
You might also be thinking that you only want to work with people who are ready, willing and able to invest. They already get it. They understand the value. They’re ready to put the effort in.
(Usually that’s a sign you’ve got a lot of people who aren’t ready, or you’ve got a lot of people who have said, “No, I can’t afford it just yet.” so you’ve decided that you’re only going to work with people who are ready and can afford it.)
But when you only work with people who are in their last stages of that journey, you then have a lot of competition.
You then put yourself in the smack bang in the space where that person already follows 4 or 5 who work in this space, and that person already has a lot of advice and support in that space.
So you’re now putting yourself smack bang in the path of your opposition.
For a lot of people, it’s that mid-range of that journey where you need to actually start focussing down.
I won’t spend hours and hours talking about niche.
I could but I won’t.
But what I will say, if you want to become more magnetic, then I would love for you to come and grab that Magnetic Business eBook.
Because it really does help you understand the core principles.
(Polarising people is just one of the magnetic principles.)
